What Saufley Field is
Saufley sits northwest of Pensacola, about ten miles from NAS Pensacola, in unincorporated Escambia County. It is part of the NAS Pensacola complex.
It hosts NETPDC — the Naval Education and Training Professional Development Center, which runs the Navy Advancement Center, Navy voluntary education and credentialing — along with DANTES and the Navy Operational Support Center.
It is no longer used for flight operations. That single fact changes the character of the place. The population here is staff and reserve, not students on a pipeline.
Why that matters for buying
Saufley billets tend to run longer than the training pipelines at NAS Pensacola and Corry Station. A longer tour gives a purchase more time to work, and it makes resale and rental potential worth planning for from day one rather than scrambling when orders arrive.
If you are coming here, you are more likely than most people in this area to be buying rather than renting — and more likely to be thinking about the house as an asset that outlives the tour. Worth knowing: Florida Statute 196.061 lets you rent the house out on military orders without losing your homestead exemption.
Where to live
Bellview, Myrtle Grove and Ferry Pass are the natural fits — closest to Saufley, established Escambia County neighborhoods, sensible prices.
Cantonment and Beulah sit a little further north and offer noticeably more house per dollar. Still Escambia schools, thirty to forty minutes to NAS Pensacola if you ever need to be there.
Cordova Park and North Cordova Park split the difference well if your household has a second commuter heading downtown.
One quiet advantage of being assigned here: Saufley's position means the Three Mile Bridge is irrelevant to your commute.
Schools
Escambia County, A-rated in the 2025-26 FLDOE grades. Purple Star held school by school, 35 schools currently.
